On 7/15/21 at 6:00pm MST, connecting to PromisePoint's FTP service with outdated and insecure protocols such as TLS 1.0 and 1.1, SSL3 and SHA-1 will be disabled. Only connections using the newer and more secure TLS 1.2 or 1.3 will be permitted.
What does this mean?
In order to help keep PromisePoint secure we are disabling the use of out of date security protocols on PromisePoint’s FTP service. This is to help ensure that your data is kept safe and secure both while residing on PromisePoint servers as well as when it is being transferred to or from them.
Do I have to do anything?
If you connect to PromisePoint’s FTP site (https://promsiepoint.files.com) using a web browser to submit or receive files, then there won’t be anything you need to do as modern browsers already support TLS 1.2 and 1.3.
However if you transfer files to or from PromisePoint’s FTP using an automated process, it would be worth checking with your IT department or whoever setup the process to ensure that it can connect using TLS 1.2 or 1.3. While rare, some older versions of popular scripting/programming languages do not support the TLS 1.2 standard. If not then the transfer process or the underlying technology will need to be updated.
What if something isn’t working after the change?
If for some reason your transfers are no longer working after the change, you will still be able to manually transfer or retrieve the file via web client (https://promisepoint.files.com). Failing that please send us a ticket via our help center (https://thebreakawaygroup.zendesk.com/hc/en-us).
